Event Security
Special Event Security
The Event Security Assistant (ESA) Program specializes in working a variety of special events.
Their duties include ticket taking, crowd control, door monitoring, ushering, and working
the barricaded areas. Since 1990, ESA's have worked both large and small events
at all of the major venues on the UC Irvine Campus. All types of events have been staffed
with ESA's including concerts, festivals, cultural shows, athletic events, conferences, speakers,
campus movies, and graduations.
Event Security Assistants are familiar with campus buildings and parking. In addition to being
certified in both CPR and First Aid, ESA’s provide a direct communication link to summon Police,
Fire, or Medical aid. ESA's provide the following hospitality, safety, and security special
event services:
- Provide guests with directions on where to enter the venue for the special event.
- Welcome guests as they arrive at the venue and assist in their registration.
- Assist guests with finding their seats and direct them to restrooms, payphones, and concessions.
- Monitor closed areas of the venue.
- Guard event equipment and vehicles.
- Monitor compliance with alcohol and amplified sound policies.
- Check backpacks and perform searches at designated events.
- Provide disabled transportation for handicapped members of your event to and from the venue.
Building Security Program
ESA's are also available for long-term building and event area security assignments.
In such assignments, the ESA's provide high-visibility vehicle and foot patrols, secure
interior and exterior doors, control access, monitor equipment and conduct area checks for
safety or security deficiencies.
