Bike @ UCI

Each month Parking and Transportation Services scours the campus and removes abandoned bikes. After a 90-day holding period, these bikes are made available for sale at low cost to UCI students and the rest of the campus community. For more information, keep an eye on the bike website for announcements about our regularly-scheduled bike fairs or contact the bicycle coordinator.

Useable bikes and bike parts that are not purchased are donated to the Bicycle Donation Program. These bikes are then cleaned up and donated to organizations such as Shelter for the Homeless in Midway City and Olive Crest Homes and Services for Abused Children in Santa Ana.
Today Nancy Chen Lane, complex coordinator for Mesa Court Housing, organizes bike clean-up events where students can help fix up the bikes.

For more information about the bicycle donation program, please contact the bicycle coordinator at myu@pts.uci.edu.

Monthly Open Bike Salvage Yard

Attention to all Bike Fair goers. This month the Bike Fair will be postponed to December 2, 2009 for the holidays. At this event you can purchase a salvaged bicycle at low cost. Most bikes will require minimal repair such as new inner tubes, cleaning of rust and tuning. Our goal is to provide an affordable means of alternative transportation to the community. For more information or to be added to the mailing list, please contact Mike Yu at myu@pts.uci.edu or Parking and Transportation Services at 949-824-2691.
